The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards!

62nd GRAMMY® Awards - As I mentioned last September, my album Heartbeat was recognized by the Recording Academy of Arts and Sciences by being placed on the official 1st round Grammy Ballot in Pop Vocal Album. Along with Pop Solo Performance and Song Of The Year ballot placements for my song “Can’t Let You Go”.

Even though we didn’t receive a nomination, I was able to attend the awards again this year and celebrate as all of the winners were announced. This year was special as I was able to bring my oldest son with me, who had a blast attending the awards along with various other musical events throughout the weekend. Massive congratulations to all of the nominees and winners at this years event! #Musicisuniversal

Grammy Awards placements!

I’m proud to announce that my album Heartbeat, has been recognized by the Recording Academy of Arts and Sciences by being placed on the official 1st round Grammy Ballot in Pop Vocal Album. Track 3, from the album, Can’t Let You Go, was also a named contender in Pop Solo Performance and Song Of The Year.

This year’s 1st round voting is now closed and nominations will be announced at the end of November. Regardless of the outcome, I’m honored to have my music listed on the ballot and wish everyone who made it to this point, huge congratulations!

Recording Academy Washington, DC Chapter Block Party

On May 10, 2019 the Recording Academy DC Chapter held its inaugural block party at the City Winery, DC. I decided to make the trip up from Raleigh along with my son, to attend the event and check out some of the great DC sites. There were live performances by DRAM, Rare Essence, Kevin Ross, Chaz French, Angelica Garcia, and Makuta who were all AMAZING! It was a great evening full of music, laughter, and a great opportunity for to meet some of my fellow chapter members in a more relaxed setting. The evening and the site seeing were a great success!

February 2019 was a big month!

Nicki Kris 61st Grammy Awards

Besides releasing my album I also was able to attend the 61st GRAMMY® Awards the same week!  I know, I'm NUTS! I was very excited to have been able to go back to Microsoft Theater and the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, CA for the Awards Premier Ceremony and Live Telecast!  OMG was it COLD!!  Yes in the BRRRRR sense!  Who would have thought?

It was a great day and I had the honor of watching several dear friends win consecutive, multiple, and their first GRAMMY® awards at this year's event, so it was even more CRAZY!!  Oh and I seriously must have been hiding under a rock somewhere to not have been listening to Brandi Carlile all this time!  HOLY WOW! She is AWESOME!  Did any of your favorite's win?

You can check out some of my photo's from the event and my time in Los Angeles on my Instagram and Facebook pages. Read More…

The 61st Annual Grammy Awards!

Once again I’m honored and proud to announce that Heartbeat, a song I co-wrote with my producer Kevin McNoldy, was recognized by the Recording Academy of Arts and Sciences by being placed on the official 1st round Grammy Ballot in Song of the Year, Best Rock Song, and Best Rock Performance. This was the 3rd time that Kevin and I have been recognized and my 6th as an artist, an accomplishment that I do not take for granted.

Even though we weren’t nominated, it’s always an honor to be up for consideration along with all of the other artists. I’m looking forward to heading back to Los Angeles in early February to cheer on all of the nominees at the 61st Awards Ceremony. It’s always surreal to know that your music was listed on the ballot right next to some of today’s great artists! Now to figure out what to wear!

Our congratulations go out to all of the nominees, wishing you all much luck and all the best! Read More…

The 60th Annual Grammy Awards!

Captain America, a song I co-wrote with my producer Kevin McNoldy, was recognized by the Recording Academy of Arts and Sciences by being placed on the official 1st round Grammy Ballot in Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance. This was the 5th year I’ve been placed on the official ballot (2nd time with Kevin as my co-writer), and an accomplishment that I do not take for granted.

The response from my peers during this year’s campaign was amazing. The feedback and comments from all over the world were overwhelming to say the least and we honestly felt we had a great shot at being nominated. Ultimately, when the results were announced we weren’t chosen to receive an official Grammy nomination. Although very disappointed, I’m thrilled to have been able to share this song and its message of empowerment, perseverance, love, and strength across the globe. To all my wonderful NARAS family, both old and new, I thank you for your continued support and love. Our congratulations goes out to all of the nominees. See you in NYC and Good Luck! Read More…

The 59th Annual Grammy Awards!

Falling To Pieces, a song I co-wrote with Kevin McNoldy, was recognized by the Recording Academy of Arts and Sciences by being placed on the official 1st round Grammy Ballot in both Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. This is my 4th year in a row on the official ballot in both of these categories, an accomplishment that I do not take for granted; and, it’s even more special this time around because of the meaning and message tied to this song.

The response from my peers during this year’s campaign was overwhelming and while we ultimately weren’t chosen by the Nominations Review Committee to receive an official Grammy nomination, we were able to spread our message of empowerment, perseverance, love, and strength across the globe. I can’t thank the wonderful NARAS members (many of whom have become friends and future collaborators) enough for their continued support and musical encouragement. You are all awesome!!

Congratulations to all the nominees and especially to those who have become a part of my NARAS family. I’m rooting for you all! Read More…
